Martin Luther King's dream of a new America where white boys, white girls will join hands with black boys and black girls seems to have gotten closer to become a reality. History was made on the night of June 3rd, 2008 where Barack Obama, a black man, clinched the Democratic Nomination to represent the aforementioned party in the upcoming presidential election; that constitutes a march to realism of this dream.
Win, lose or draw; history was made and there is no denying it.

I would be inhumane if I acted like the catastrophic events of Myanmar and China in the recent weeks have not touched me one way or another. Record numbers of people are said to be dead and countless numbers are injured yet the effect of such tragedy is immeasurable in the mind of relatives and humanity as a whole. At the sight of pain and anguish, the true resolve of a man is evident.

I remember my glory days living in the land once known as la Perle des Antilles, particularly the rural section of Saint Marc. If you do not know much about Haiti let me give you a crash course on the town of Nissage Saget, president of Haiti from 1870 to 1874. Saint Marc is a coastal port town situated in the western part of Haiti. In the colonial times, it was considered as a strategic town for it is the gateway to the Artibonite valley. The valley is bathed by the great river of Artibonite which is a constant flow of water and nutrients needed to render the land fertile and also a "canal' which branched out of the river flows in the heart of the rural section where my parents found their residence.

Can Kompa be used as a vehicle to true adoration?
Looking at music and its evolution in the Hatian community, I wonder if the church and the Christian adults do not have a case in desiring to distance themselves from the rhythm of the land by adopting the more classical style of music. The more classical the more spiritual; in essence, that is the mindset of most people. Kompa seems never to enjoy notoriety within the Christian circle.
